Xavi has indicated that the Netherlands will make changes for Sunday evening’s home game against Serbia, the fourth and final fixture of his first international window as Oranje coach. The match comes only three days after the 2-2 draw away to Greece.

The coach said the staff had focused on recovery during a demanding run of matches. “Everyone is available,” Xavi confirmed, according to De Telegraaf. Even with a full squad to choose from, he suggested it was unlikely that the same starting XI would be retained against Serbia.

Xavi described rotation as a normal response to such a short turnaround. His priority is for the Netherlands to show greater intensity and speed from the opening whistle, and he believes freshening up the side can help achieve that. He did not identify which players could come into the team or how many changes he plans to make.

Denzel Dumfries also acknowledged that fatigue is a factor, although he said players are accustomed to busy schedules at club level. The defender added that the calendar must be respected, but expressed opposition to the new international format because of the extended time players spend away from their clubs. He said he preferred the previous set-up. The Netherlands face Serbia at the Philips Stadion, with kick-off scheduled for 20:45 on Sunday.
