Wayward ADO Den Haag shots leave cars damaged at training ground
Several vehicles were hit by balls clearing a fence during finishing practice, with Sekou Sylla forced to replace his windscreen.
ADO Den Haag are considering changes at their training facility after wayward shots damaged several cars parked beside the pitch. FCUpdate, citing regional broadcaster Omroep West, reports that balls sent over the fence during a finishing exercise smashed multiple windows this week.
Sekou Sylla was among those affected. Goalkeeper Kilian Nikiema said his team-mate’s windscreen was damaged badly enough to leave the car unusable, forcing Sylla to take it to a garage for a replacement. Nikiema could not remember which player had struck the shot responsible.
The incident was not limited to Sylla’s vehicle, with Nikiema saying he saw numerous balls clear the fence during the week. An ADO employee told Omroep West that parking in the area meant it was “waiting for trouble”, underlining the risk posed to vehicles close to the training pitch.
The newly promoted club said it is considering preventative measures. One possible solution is a catch net behind the goal, which would stop missed shots from reaching the car park and could also improve safety for spectators attending ADO training sessions.
