Van Hanegem tells Hadj Moussa to change his behaviour at Feyenoord

Willem van Hanegem has urged Anis Hadj Moussa to improve his conduct after the winger was left out of Feyenoord’s matchday squad. Writing in his Algemeen Dagblad column, as relayed by VI, Van Hanegem linked the omission to repeated lateness. Coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst addressed Hadj Moussa’s absence both before and after the game.

Van Hanegem argued that Feyenoord gave Hadj Moussa an opportunity at the highest domestic level following his loan spell with Vitesse. The Rotterdam club subsequently signed him from Belgian side Patro Eisden for €3.5 million after he impressed in Arnhem.

Interest in the winger and the prospect of earning more elsewhere should not alter his attitude, according to Van Hanegem. His message was straightforward: Hadj Moussa must behave professionally if he stays at Feyenoord. The columnist added that the attacker could still have a part to play against Barcelona, provided he travels and meets the team’s expectations regarding punctuality.

Feyenoord begin their Champions League campaign at Camp Nou this week. Van Hanegem does not expect them to win, but wants the side to play without fear after what he considered their best performance of the season against NEC. He also highlighted 17-year-old goalscorer Jerayno Schaken and left-wing talent Jivayno Zinhagel as young players who may now receive opportunities.
