Tristan Gooijer has left Ajax to continue his career with Belgian club Lommel. The defender has signed a contract running until the middle of 2028, bringing an end to his time with the Amsterdam side after already saying goodbye to Ajax on Instagram on Wednesday.
Gooijer spent last season on loan at PEC Zwolle. After returning from a serious injury, he made 23 Eredivisie appearances for the club. Lommel technical director Jeffrey van As highlighted the new arrival’s versatility and top-flight experience, saying the club believes he can operate in several positions and make an immediate contribution to the team.
The move represents a fresh start for Gooijer following his years at Ajax. In comments published by VI, the defender said it felt like “the right moment” to begin a new chapter in his career. He added that his talks with Lommel had given him confidence in the switch and that the Belgian club’s ambitions appealed to him. Gooijer now wants to settle quickly, help the team from the outset and put together a strong season after linking up with his new team-mates.
