Tottenham handed encouraging injury news on Van de Ven and Van Hecke
The two Netherlands defenders could be available for Spurs’ visit to Manchester United after their injuries proved less serious than initially feared.

Tottenham Hotspur have received a welcome fitness boost after injuries suffered by Netherlands defenders Micky van de Ven and Jan Paul van Hecke were deemed relatively minor. Both players could return for this weekend’s away match against Manchester United, although their availability will depend on their recovery.
Van de Ven was forced off during the Netherlands’ 2-1 Nations League victory over Serbia on Sunday. Luka Jovic accidentally landed with his full weight on the defender’s hand, leaving Van de Ven in considerable pain and feeling dizzy. After consulting the national team doctor, he was withdrawn from the game.
Netherlands coach Xavi Hernández played down the severity of the problem after the match. “It is not a major injury,” he said, as reported by VI. That assessment offers relief to Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi, whose side are bottom of the Premier League and face a difficult trip to Old Trafford.
Van Hecke had already left the Oranje camp after suffering a foot injury in a collision during the away game against Serbia. He resumed training after returning to the Netherlands but was soon forced to stop. The issue is nevertheless considered manageable, and Tottenham expect him back on the pitch soon. Van Hecke and Van de Ven may both be available against United if their recoveries progress quickly.
