Tijjani Reijnders is set to leave Manchester City for Saudi Pro League side Qadsiah in a deal worth €61 million, according to De Telegraaf. The 28-year-old midfielder will reportedly sign for four seasons, with an option for a fifth year, but must first complete a medical examination.
Sources around Qadsiah told the Dutch outlet that Reijnders could earn more than €100 million in total if he remains for the full five-year period. Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Newcastle United and Galatasaray also attempted to sign him, but the report says they could not match the Saudi club’s financial offer.
Reijnders was open to another transfer after being used mainly as a number 10 by Manchester City, while he views himself as a number eight. He made 50 appearances for the English club last season, scoring seven goals and providing eight assists.
The former AZ player joined City from AC Milan for €55 million last year, having previously moved from Alkmaar to Milan for €24.8 million. At Qadsiah, he would join former FC Utrecht defender Souffian El Karouani, as well as Nacho Fernández, Mateo Retegui and Julian Weigl. Qadsiah finished fourth in the Saudi Pro League last season.
