Telstar sign former Ajax winger Ar’jany Martha on loan
The 22-year-old Curaçao international arrives from Rotherham United for the rest of the season, with Telstar securing an option to buy.
Telstar have signed Ar’jany Martha on loan from Rotherham United for the remainder of the season, according to Voetbalzone. The Velsen-Zuid club have also negotiated an option to make the winger’s move permanent.
Technical director Peter Hofstede said Martha’s experience, Dutch football education and familiarity with the domestic game made him an attractive addition. He also highlighted the 22-year-old’s speed and energy, while expressing the belief that Martha can continue his development and immediately strengthen Telstar’s squad.
Born in Rotterdam, Martha spent nine years in Ajax’s academy after joining from partner club Sparta Rotterdam in 2015. He became a prominent figure for Jong Ajax, making a record 110 official appearances for the reserve side. Martha also reached the senior team, recording two assists across 12 competitive appearances before leaving Ajax on a free transfer for Beerschot in 2024.
The wide player has represented Curaçao eight times at senior international level. Voetbalzone reports that he was part of the country’s World Cup squad last summer, remaining on the bench during the tournament. His move to Telstar now provides an opportunity to return to Dutch football and add to his Eredivisie experience.
