Telstar and Cambuur will break new ground on Sunday when their long-running rivalry is staged in the Eredivisie for the first time. The clubs have already faced one another 77 times, but none of those previous encounters took place in the Dutch top flight.
Cambuur hold the advantage in the historical series, having recorded 32 victories to Telstar’s 22. Almost every meeting came in the second tier: 75 were played in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie or under one of the competition’s former names, while the other two were KNVB Beker ties.
