Tadic explains heated clash with NEC team-mate after Olympiacos win

Dušan Tadić has explained why he angrily confronted NEC team-mate Clement Bischoff during Tuesday’s 2-1 victory over Olympiacos at De Goffert. The result, secured with help from a Tadić assist, sent NEC into the final play-off round of Champions League qualifying.
The flashpoint came when Bischoff returned the ball to Olympiacos in what he considered an act of fair play. Tadić disagreed with that decision and immediately made his feelings clear to his team-mate. The Serbian argued that Olympiacos player Kostas Fortounis had put the ball out while under pressure, meaning NEC had no obligation to surrender possession.
Tadić told Voetbalzone that he had expected Bischoff to take the throw-in to him. Instead, the ball was given back to the Greek side. He said NEC must learn to be “positively dirty” in such moments, insisting that competitive situations sometimes require a harder edge rather than a sporting gesture.
Despite the intensity of the confrontation, Tadić stressed that there was no lasting problem between the pair. He described Bischoff as a very good person and player, adding that incidents of this kind can happen in the heat of a match. Tadić said he embraced his team-mate afterwards and that the matter was resolved following NEC’s victory.
