Swiss media warn Ajax about Sion’s in-form attack

Swiss media have highlighted FC Sion’s attacking form ahead of the club’s play-off tie against Ajax for a place in the league phase. Voetbal International reports that several outlets regard Ajax as the imposing name in the contest, while also suggesting the Amsterdam side could be troubled by Sion’s forwards.

Blick described Sion’s attack as “formidable” and presented Ajax as one of European football’s most celebrated clubs. Although the Swiss newspaper called the draw difficult, it questioned why Sion’s productive front line should not also be capable of causing problems for the Dutch side.

Winsley Boteli has made the biggest statistical contribution during the opening weeks of Sion’s season. Playing behind the central striker, he has been directly involved in eight goals across his first seven appearances, scoring six and supplying two assists. Rilind Nivokazi, who operates as the team’s lone striker, has registered one goal and three assists in seven matches.

Franck Surdez has also recorded one goal and three assists from the left, while right winger Ilyas Chouaref has contributed one goal and two assists. Other Swiss outlets acknowledged the scale of Sion’s assignment: 20 Minuten labelled Ajax a tough opponent, Le Matin called the tie a meeting with a European heavyweight, and Sport CH said Sion face a major challenge.
