Sem Steijn scored as Feyenoord came from behind to defeat Antwerp 2-1 in a friendly. Giovanni van Bronckhorst rotated his side with several players away on international duty, fielding Mika Mármol and Thijs Kraaijeveld in central defence and Javi López at left-back.

Antwerp struck first, but Steijn equalised before half-time. The midfielder scored 31 goals for FC Twente in the 2024/25 season but managed seven for Feyenoord last term. His only goal this season had previously come in the Champions League, making this friendly strike a welcome contribution. Nacho Ferri then headed in the second-half winner against the Belgian side.

Feyenoord are preparing to resume their Eredivisie campaign at home to AZ next Saturday. A Champions League meeting with Como follows shortly afterwards.

AZ also used the international period for a friendly, selecting a mixture of first-team and reserve players against ADO Den Haag in a match played over four 30-minute periods. Jonas Jensen-Abbew gave ADO the lead from a corner before Jerolldino Bergraaf levelled with an inventive finish following work by Weslley Patati. ADO pulled clear late on through Alex Pozo, who converted from another corner, and Finn de Bruin, who scored from a free-kick. AZ lost 3-1 after several senior players, including Wesley Hoedt, Jordy Clasie, Calvin Stengs and Patati, had left the field.
