Youri Regeer made a winning start to his Werder Bremen spell as the Ajax loanee helped his new side defeat RB Leipzig 3-1. The 23-year-old midfielder went straight into the starting XI alongside fellow Dutchman Ludovit Reis, while Ezechiel Banzuzi began the game for Leipzig.

Eren Dinkçi gave Werder a fourth-minute lead before Niclas Füllkrug doubled the advantage during the second half. Marco Grüll added the hosts’ third goal, with Ridle Baku scoring Leipzig’s consolation in stoppage time. Werder have three points from their opening two Bundesliga fixtures.

Joey Veerman also enjoyed a successful afternoon, entering at the start of the second half as Borussia Dortmund recovered from 2-0 down to win 3-2 away to Hoffenheim. The former PSV midfielder helped Dortmund preserve their perfect start, while Dutch pair Mats Rots and Wouter Burger started for the home side.

Elsewhere, Netherlands goalkeeper Mark Flekken was part of the Bayer Leverkusen team that swept Union Berlin aside 4-0. Bayern Munich dropped their first points of the season in a goalless draw at promoted Schalke 04, where goalkeeper Loris Karius frustrated the defending champions. Jamal Musiala returned for Bayern 18 days after becoming unwell during a match at Heidenheim.
