RB Leipzig reportedly agree €1.8m deal for Sparta teenager Gennaro Wijks

RB Leipzig are reportedly set to sign Sparta Rotterdam winger Gennaro Wijks in a deal worth €1.8 million. Voetbalzone, citing Mounir Boualin, says the 16-year-old has already undergone a medical and is due to sign a three-year contract with the German club.
The proposed fee represents a considerable return for Sparta on a player who has yet to make his professional debut. Wijks, a left winger from The Hague, was under contract with the Rotterdam club until the middle of 2028, meaning Leipzig would need to pay to secure his release.
A move would see Wijks follow his older brother Chivano into German football. The 18-year-old right-back has spent the past two years in Germany and is currently contracted to Bayern Munich.
The brothers are the sons of former professional footballer Marvin Wijks. Their father died at the age of 40 after suffering a brain haemorrhage in February 2025. No official confirmation of Gennaro Wijks’ transfer was included in the report.
