Ramiz Zerrouki completes permanent return to FC Twente

FC Twente have completed the permanent signing of Ramiz Zerrouki, bringing the midfielder back to Enschede after his loan spell last season. The 28-year-old joined first-team training before signing a four-year contract at De Grolsch Veste.

The move ends Zerrouki’s time with Feyenoord, where he had spent two seasons after leaving Twente in 2023. His return continues a long association with the Enschede club: he first arrived from Ajax’s academy in 2016, made his senior debut in October 2019 and later broke into the Eredivisie side.

Zerrouki has now played 139 matches for Twente and scored eight goals across his spells with the club. The Algeria international, who has 56 caps, said the permanent move was the outcome he wanted after maintaining contact with Twente, including during the World Cup. He has joined a squad which he feels remains largely familiar from last season and is available ahead of the club’s forthcoming European fixture.

Erik ten Hag described the deal as an important transfer for both Twente and the player, highlighting Zerrouki’s scarce midfield profile and leadership qualities. Zerrouki, meanwhile, told FC Twente’s official website: “It feels good to be back.”
