Quinten Timber completes late Crystal Palace move
The Netherlands international has left Olympique Marseille for London in a €20 million transfer, signing a deal through to 2031.
Quinten Timber has completed a deadline-day transfer from Olympique Marseille to Crystal Palace. The move was confirmed overnight after the transfer window closed in Europe’s five leading domestic leagues, with both clubs announcing that an agreement had been finalised.
According to De Telegraaf, the Netherlands international has signed a contract with Palace running until the middle of 2031. The transfer is worth €20 million, bringing Timber’s spell in Marseille to an end only months after his arrival from Feyenoord.
Feyenoord sold Timber to Marseille for €4.5 million in January. His contract with the French club had been due to run until mid-2030, but he will now continue his career in London. His twin brother Jurriën also plays for a Premier League club in the English capital.
Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish backed the midfielder to make an impact in England. In a statement carried by De Telegraaf, Parish highlighted Timber’s “leadership, determination and qualities” as attributes which can help him flourish in the Premier League. The deal was completed shortly before the market shut, making Timber one of the final confirmed moves of the window.
