PSV sign Filip Kostic on two-year deal

PSV have completed the signing of Filip Kostic on a free transfer. The 33-year-old has agreed a two-year contract in Eindhoven and will wear the number 18 shirt, although he must still receive his work permit before becoming available.

The move brings Kostic back to the Eredivisie 12 years after his departure from FC Groningen, where he played from 2012 to 2014. His subsequent clubs included VfB Stuttgart, Hamburger SV, Eintracht Frankfurt, Juventus and Fenerbahçe.

Kostic said PSV’s approach immediately appealed to him, but he took time to ensure the move would also suit his family. He was also encouraged by conversations with head coach Peter Bosz and former team-mate Ivan Perisic. “It was immediately clear to me that I wanted to go to Eindhoven,” Kostic told PSV’s website, as reported by NU.nl.

PSV director of football Earnest Stewart highlighted the 72-cap Serbia international’s experience, mentality and continued ambition. Kostic becomes another addition to Bosz’s squad following the earlier arrival of Sven Mijnans from AZ. PSV are due to open their Eredivisie campaign at home to Fortuna Sittard after suffering a 4-0 defeat by AZ in the Johan Cruijff Shield.
