PSV’s Obispo talks with Lens stall amid conflicting reports

Armando Obispo’s proposed transfer from PSV to RC Lens has stalled, although differing explanations have emerged over why the deal ran into difficulty. Voetbalzone reports that an agreement had initially appeared close before negotiations broke down.

According to the earlier account cited by the outlet, PSV and Lens had reached a deal worth €5.5 million after lengthy discussions. Obispo’s personal terms were said to be the remaining issue: a verbal understanding was reportedly reached, but the agreement could not be completed in writing.

However, Voetbalzone says L’Équipe has offered a different version. The French newspaper reported that Lens and PSV appeared to have agreed a fee of around €4 million, excluding bonuses, and that Obispo had also accepted terms. PSV then allegedly sought to reopen the financial negotiations, delaying the transfer. The differing figures and explanations have not been officially resolved.

The move is not necessarily over, according to the French report, but completing it now looks difficult. Obispo is not considered surplus to requirements in Eindhoven and remains part of head coach Peter Bosz’s sporting plans, meaning PSV can retain the defender if no agreement with Lens is reached.
