PSV have not abandoned their pursuit of NEC midfielder Kodai Sano despite recently halting negotiations, according to Voetbalzone, citing Eindhovens Dagblad reporter Rik Elfrink. The reigning champions are said to retain hope that the proposed transfer can still be revived.

Talks stalled because NEC’s €18 million asking price was considerably higher than PSV were prepared to pay. Sano is reportedly open to moving to Eindhoven, but the clubs must first find common ground on the financial terms.

Agent José Fortes Rodriguez could now play a decisive role in trying to break the impasse. He would need to persuade NEC to lower their valuation while also encouraging PSV to improve their offer. Although no agreement has been reached, the report says those involved have not ruled out a deal.

Voetbalzone also relays a De Telegraaf report that goalkeeper Joël Drommel’s name was raised during the discussions. NEC are looking for competition for current first-choice keeper Gonzalo Crettaz. Separately, PSV remain in the market for a left-back and have made an offer to the representative of free agent Filip Kostic, but are still awaiting his final decision.
