PSV have reached an agreement in principle with FC Twente to re-sign Sam Lammers, according to FCUpdate, citing Eindhovens Dagblad reporter Rik Elfrink. The 29-year-old striker is expected to undergo a medical on Monday and sign a contract if he passes the checks.
The proposed transfer would take Lammers back to the Philips Stadion approximately six years after his 2020 departure. He was no longer prominent in Twente’s plans following the arrival of Wout Weghorst. Coach John van den Brom had publicly placed Lammers third in the striker hierarchy, with Lucas Vennegoor of Hesselink also ahead of him.
PSV’s search for another centre-forward was prompted by a fresh injury to Allassana Pléa. Ricardo Pepi was subsequently the only available player in the squad who naturally operates as the deepest attacker, although Guus Til could fill that role in an emergency. Lammers would therefore provide head coach Peter Bosz with another option through the middle.
The report also says Sami Ouaissa is scheduled to have a PSV medical on Monday. Eindhovens Dagblad expects the Eindhoven club to add Ayoni Santos and Mikkel Bro Hansen as well before the transfer deadline, although those prospective deals have not yet been confirmed.
