PEC Zwolle sign Sydney van Hooijdonk on season-long loan
The 26-year-old striker returns to the Eredivisie six months after leaving NAC Breda for Estrela Amadora.

PEC Zwolle have brought Sydney van Hooijdonk back to the Netherlands, signing the striker from Portuguese side Estrela Amadora on loan for the season. The agreement also gives PEC an option to make the move permanent, which De Telegraaf describes as attainable.
The 26-year-old only moved abroad in January, when he left NAC Breda on a free transfer. His stay in Portugal proved brief: Van Hooijdonk made 12 appearances for Estrela Amadora and scored once before securing his return to the Eredivisie.
Van Hooijdonk arrives with experience across several countries. In addition to two spells with NAC, he has represented Bologna and Cesena in Italy, Norwich City in England and SC Heerenveen in the Netherlands.
His most productive period came at Heerenveen, where he recorded 26 goals in 54 matches. PEC will now hope he can rediscover that scoring form during his season in Zwolle, while the purchase option provides a potential route to a longer stay beyond the initial loan.
