PEC Zwolle bring back Filip Krastev on loan from Lommel

PEC Zwolle have re-signed Filip Krastev on loan from Belgian side Lommel SK for the remainder of the season. The Eredivisie club have also negotiated what technical director Gerry Hamstra described as a realistic purchase option, which could lead to a three-year permanent deal.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder is returning for his third spell in Zwolle. He became a popular figure during his previous two stints, recording eight goals and seven assists across 46 PEC appearances. Krastev, a 30-cap Bulgaria international, remains under the umbrella of the City Football Group through Lommel.

PEC will not have the player available at full fitness immediately. Krastev is continuing his recovery from an injury sustained while playing for Turkish club Göztepe last season. Hamstra acknowledged that condition but said the opportunity was too good to pass up, noting that a fit Krastev can be highly valuable to the team and would ordinarily be beyond PEC’s reach.

Krastev said PEC had treated him well and provided some of the best seasons of his recent career. “I will do everything to get back to full fitness,” he said in the club announcement, as relayed by Voetbalzone. His first task will now be completing that rehabilitation before adding another chapter to a productive association with Zwolle.
