Nordin Amrabat joins FC Utrecht training in fitness and mentoring role
The 39-year-old free agent will work with Utrecht’s squad while helping younger players, although the club has not indicated that a contract is under consideration.

Nordin Amrabat has joined FC Utrecht’s training sessions after being given the opportunity to maintain his fitness while he searches for a new club. Utrecht announced that the 39-year-old attacker would begin working with the Eredivisie squad on Tuesday.
The arrangement also includes a mentoring element. Amrabat wants to contribute because of the connection he feels with Utrecht, while the club believes its younger players can benefit from his extensive experience. For now, however, his involvement is limited to training and supporting the squad’s emerging players.
There has been no announcement about a playing contract or a place in the matchday squad. Amrabat has been without a club since leaving Wydad AC in early July following the expiry of his deal. He made 35 competitive appearances for the Moroccan club last season, recording four goals and three assists.
The Naarden-born forward has 64 senior caps for Morocco. His previous clubs in the Netherlands include VVV-Venlo and PSV, after which he played for teams including Galatasaray, Málaga, Watford, Al-Nassr and AEK Athens. He most recently represented Wydad, and the current Utrecht arrangement allows him to remain ready while awaiting his next move.
