Netherlands hold ninth place in latest FIFA ranking
Oranje remain just behind Belgium after an unbeaten four-game start under Xavi Hernández, while Portugal climb into the top five.

The Netherlands have retained ninth place in the latest FIFA world ranking. Oranje have 1,778.61 points, leaving them narrowly behind eighth-placed Belgium on 1,779.17 and ahead of Mexico, who complete the top ten with 1,738.48.
Their position is unchanged from the ranking issued after the World Cup. Since Xavi Hernández took charge as national coach, the Dutch side have recorded two wins and two draws, but that unbeaten sequence was not enough to move them higher in the standings.
There was no change among the leading four nations. Spain remain top with 2,011.57 points, followed by Argentina, France and England. Portugal were the biggest climbers near the summit, rising two positions to fifth. Brazil and Morocco each slipped one place to sixth and seventh respectively.
Elsewhere, Germany dropped to 13th during the opening period of Jürgen Klopp’s tenure. Croatia also fell one position, to 14th, following a 7-0 defeat by England. Switzerland moved up two places to 12th after winning all four of their Nations League Division B matches. FIFA calculates the ranking using results, opponent strength and the importance of each fixture, with World Cup knockout games carrying more weight than friendlies.
