NEC Nijmegen are reportedly working to sign Ayodele Thomas from RB Leipzig, with both a loan and a permanent transfer under consideration. Voetbalzone, citing Sky Sport journalist Philipp Hinze, says negotiations remain ongoing as the clubs assess the terms of each option.
Thomas is expected to undergo a medical with NEC on Tuesday. The Nijmegen club hopes to resolve the outstanding details with Leipzig afterwards, although the report does not indicate that a final agreement has yet been reached.
The 19-year-old winger, who comes from Almere, is contracted to Leipzig until the middle of 2031. His prospective move would bring him back to the Netherlands around six months after leaving PSV. The Eindhoven club had attempted to keep Thomas last year but was unable to do so.
NEC could also lose Brayann Pereira before the transfer window closes. The 23-year-old wing-back is set to join West Bromwich Albion for €1.5 million, according to the same report. De Telegraaf journalist Jeroen Kapteijns said Pereira and his representatives had taken a firm position over the proposed departure, after which NEC agreed to the move. With Thomas potentially arriving and Pereira heading out, the closing stage of the window could bring changes on both flanks in Nijmegen.
