NAC agree Valerius move to Minnesota United
Cherrion Valerius will join Minnesota United on loan before a performance-based obligation to buy can take effect in January 2027.

NAC Breda have reached an agreement with Minnesota United FC for Cherrion Valerius to continue his career in the United States. The deal was confirmed by the Dutch club on 3 September 2026.
Valerius will initially join Minnesota on loan through December 2026. Under the agreement, the American club must then sign him permanently in January 2027 if specified sporting performance conditions are satisfied.
NAC will receive a fee for the loan period. The potential permanent transfer package also includes a fixed fee, a bonus and a sell-on percentage for the Breda club. NAC did not provide financial figures or further details about the performance targets attached to the obligation.
Valerius entered NAC’s academy during the 2019/20 season after arriving from Rotterdam-based Spartaan’20. He progressed through several youth sides before becoming part of the senior squad. According to NAC, he has made 50 first-team appearances to date, including 43 in the Eredivisie. The move therefore brings an end, at least initially, to a spell that began in the club’s youth system and developed into regular top-flight involvement.
