Michiel Kramer attacks reported €15m fee for Ayase Ueda

Michiel Kramer has criticised the reported terms of Ayase Ueda’s expected transfer from Feyenoord to Lille. Writing in his column for 1908.nl, the former Rotterdam striker argued that a fee of around €15 million would significantly undervalue the Japan international.

FCUpdate cites L’Équipe as reporting that Ueda is close to joining the French club for approximately that amount. Kramer contrasted the proposed fee with Feyenoord’s reported refusal of almost €35 million for Givairo Read. Pointing to Ueda’s status as the Eredivisie’s leading scorer and a starter for Japan, he told 1908.nl: “€15 million? That really cannot be right.”

Kramer said he understood why the potential deal had attracted criticism and used stronger language to condemn the valuation. His concerns also extend beyond the price: he believes Feyenoord’s current attacking options would leave the squad short if Ueda departs.

The former forward said Feyenoord must already have possible replacements under consideration. In his view, two high-level attacking additions are necessary if the club genuinely intends to compete for the Eredivisie title. He described a forward group consisting of Borges, Diarra, Zinhagel, Ferri, Van Persie and Hadj Moussa as too light for that ambition.
