Koster, 71, makes sentimental return with Schouws amateur side
The former Netherlands international and experienced club coach will take charge of a regional representative team in his native Schouwen-Duiveland.

Koster is preparing to return to the dugout at the age of 71 after agreeing to coach the Schouws representative team. The regional selection is made up of amateur players active around Schouwen-Duiveland and is expected to play under its new coach during preparations for next season.
The role carries particular personal significance because Koster was born in the municipality of Schouwen-Duiveland. According to VI, his name was initially suggested jokingly when the team began looking for a new coach, but the conversations ultimately led to an agreement.
Koster told Omroep Zeeland that his motivation is to pass on lessons from his long coaching career that could help the players in the future. He has previously managed Willem II, Roda JC, Excelsior, RKC Waalwijk and Ajax. The Schouws side has faced professional opposition in recent pre-seasons, including FC Volendam, FC Groningen, NEC and FC Dordrecht.
There is also a historical link to Koster’s own playing days. In 1977, he represented the Zeeland regional team, a comparable select side, and was scouted while playing for it. He later made more than 100 appearances at the highest level and earned three caps for the Netherlands. His anticipated debut with the Schouws team will now bring his career back to the region where it began.
