Jong Oranje head into the final round of qualifying knowing that only a win will keep their European Championship hopes alive. Head coach Michael Reiziger confirmed on Monday that he has a fully fit squad available for the decisive fixture, according to Voetbal International’s account of his comments to ESPN.

The Netherlands sit third in their group, one point behind second-placed Israel. Reiziger believes that position does not reflect his side’s performances, arguing that the Dutch have been the stronger team in every match despite failing to take first place. A draw in the final game will not be enough because Israel hold the superior head-to-head record, which is the deciding factor if the teams finish level on points.

Even a Dutch victory will not settle matters. Group leaders Norway, who can no longer be caught by Jong Oranje, must also avoid defeat against Israel in Stavanger. If Israel win, the Netherlands will be eliminated regardless of their own result.

Finishing second would only secure a place in the play-offs rather than direct qualification. The runners-up will contest a two-legged tie during the November international period, with the winner advancing to next summer’s tournament. The list of possible opponents remains subject to change before the final qualifying round is completed.
