Joey Veerman has made clear he would be interested in joining Borussia Dortmund as speculation continues over his PSV future. Speaking after PSV’s 2-1 victory against Excelsior, the midfielder acknowledged the link with the German club but stressed that a move is not yet close.
Veerman told ESPN, in comments reported by De Telegraaf, that Dortmund would be “a great option” for him. He described the club in glowing terms and said it represented the type of opportunity for which he had waited several years, while adding that he could only wait to see whether the interest develops.
For now, there has been no concrete approach. Both PSV and Veerman’s management say Dortmund have not made formal contact, according to the report. That leaves the potential transfer at the speculative stage despite the player’s public enthusiasm for the destination.
The situation may be time-sensitive because Veerman reportedly has a release clause worth around €20 million. De Telegraaf says the clause is due to expire next week, possibly on Thursday. Veerman recognised that timetable, remarking that any interested club would have to act quickly if it wanted to use the clause.
