Joey Veerman has publicly welcomed a possible transfer to Borussia Dortmund amid reports linking the PSV midfielder with the Bundesliga club. Speaking to ESPN after PSV’s 2-1 victory away to Excelsior, the 27-year-old described Dortmund as a “great option”, according to NU.nl.

Veerman said he had waited years for an opportunity of that level and hoped PSV would allow him to leave if a suitable move materialised. He also reflected positively on five years in Eindhoven, where he said he had won eight trophies. The midfielder has been under contract with PSV since 2022.

No agreement has been confirmed, and Veerman acknowledged that the parties must wait to see what happens during the final weeks of the transfer period. ESPN reports that his contract contains a clause allowing him to leave for a fixed fee until 21 August. PSV have also recently signed Japanese midfielder Kodai Sano.

PSV coach Peter Bosz said he would not begrudge Veerman a move to Dortmund, having previously worked at the German club himself. However, Bosz stressed that he had no inside knowledge of the situation. He also praised Veerman’s performance against Excelsior, particularly his work in possession and his combination with Sano after the new signing came on.
