Joey Veerman keen on Dortmund move as release-clause deadline approaches

Joey Veerman has openly welcomed the possibility of joining Borussia Dortmund, with the release clause in his contract reportedly approaching its expiry date. The midfielder acknowledged hearing indications of interest but stressed that no transfer has yet been completed.

Dortmund can activate the clause if it wants to secure a deal, although Veerman declined to confirm its precise deadline. When asked whether it could expire around 20 or 21 August, he suggested that was close. “They need to hurry,” he joked to ESPN, as reported by Voetbal International.

Veerman described Dortmund as a highly attractive destination and said the potential switch would represent the kind of move he has awaited for years. He also referred to his failed transfer to Brentford, explaining that choosing the right sporting fit matters alongside the quality of the interested club. After five years and eight trophies at his current side, he indicated that he remains eager to take the next step in his career.

On the pitch, Veerman returned against Excelsior after missing the 2-2 draw with Fortuna Sittard through suspension. He was pleased to help secure a first win despite several missed chances. Veerman also praised Kodai Sano, identified by VI as his possible successor, highlighting the new arrival’s awareness of space and simple use of the ball.
