Jean-Paul Boëtius open to offers after RKC departure

Jean-Paul Boëtius is searching for a new club after his short-term contract with RKC Waalwijk expired at the end of last season. The midfielder joined RKC at the beginning of March but is now available on a free transfer and could quickly link up with another squad.

Boëtius has already spoken to several clubs, although those conversations have not yet produced his next move. He said some clubs had raised concerns that signing him could restrict opportunities for developing players. “I am open to a lot,” he said on Sunday, according to Voetbal International, while adding that his family situation will also influence his decision.

The former Feyenoord, FC Basel, KRC Genk, Mainz, Hertha BSC and Darmstadt player has endured a difficult period after being diagnosed with testicular cancer. Following an intensive medical process, Boëtius says the aim has been to return him to full fitness. He cited other players who have continued their careers after serious health setbacks and stressed that he remains focused on what comes next.

Boëtius also indicated that his body is responding well enough for him to keep playing. He accepts that he will have to reassess if that changes, but said that, for now, everything is going well as he waits for a suitable opportunity.
