Javi López cleared to give Feyenoord a new option at left-back
The Real Sociedad loanee is eligible to feature as Giovanni van Bronckhorst deals with injuries to Gijs Smal and Jordan Bos.

Feyenoord have received a timely boost with Javi López cleared to play following his arrival on loan from Real Sociedad. The left-back was presented by the Rotterdam club this week and is now available for Sunday’s away fixture in Leeuwarden.
López adds a natural option on the left side of defence for Giovanni van Bronckhorst. Mika Mármol has filled the position during Feyenoord’s opening matches of the season, although he is primarily a central defender. Gijs Smal and Jordan Bos remain unavailable, increasing the possibility that the new signing will be given minutes this weekend.
Feyenoord head into the game seeking a response after surrendering a two-goal advantage against Go Ahead Eagles. Van Bronckhorst’s team had controlled long spells at De Kuip and led 2-0, but conceded late as the visitors recovered to earn a draw.
López joins Feyenoord after making 38 appearances for Real Sociedad. The Spanish club also sent him out on loan last season, when he played for Real Oviedo. His eligibility gives Van Bronckhorst an immediate additional choice in a position where injuries had limited Feyenoord’s alternatives.
