Janse sees Jong Oranje’s European campaign as a potential springboard
The Netherlands youngster believes a strong youth tournament can quickly raise a player’s profile despite an unconvincing build-up.

Janse believes potential European Championship involvement with Jong Oranje could provide an important platform for the squad’s players. He has already appeared at two youth European Championships, representing the Netherlands at Under-17 and Under-19 level, and says those experiences demonstrated how quickly a player can attract wider attention.
Speaking to VI, Janse described youth tournaments as a genuine springboard. “If you do well there, you suddenly appear on the European map,” he told the outlet. His optimism comes despite Jong Oranje’s difficult route through the European Championship qualifying period.
Janse does not regard that uneven build-up as evidence that the current group cannot succeed. He said he sees considerable potential in the squad and pointed to the Netherlands Under-19 team’s preparations two years earlier. That side also delivered poor performances in matches against opponents including Scotland and Kazakhstan, according to Janse, but went on to win the European Championship. He is therefore reluctant to draw firm conclusions from Jong Oranje’s form before a possible tournament appearance.
