AZ have sold Ibrahim Sadiq to Colorado Rapids, bringing the Ghanaian winger’s three-year spell in Alkmaar to an end. The 26-year-old will continue his career in Major League Soccer after leaving the Dutch club with two years still remaining on his contract.
Sadiq joined AZ from Swedish side BK Häcken and went on to make 85 appearances for the club. He scored 18 goals during that period, averaging slightly more than one goal every five matches. AZ confirmed his departure in a social-media post thanking him for his contribution and wishing him well in the United States.
His time at AZ also included success in the KNVB Beker last season. The move means Colorado Rapids acquire an experienced wide player who had remained tied to AZ for another two seasons. No transfer fee or details of Sadiq’s contract with the MLS club were given in the report. The completed deal closes his chapter with AZ after three campaigns, 85 outings and 18 goals, with the domestic cup triumph standing as the team honour listed from his period in Alkmaar.
