Heracles beat FC Eindhoven for fourth straight league win

Heracles Almelo extended their winning start to four consecutive league matches by beating FC Eindhoven 3-1 away from home. Vincent Heilmann’s side had to overcome a difficult artificial surface and physical opposition before securing the three points.

Djevencio van der Kust opened the scoring five minutes before half-time, finishing a flowing attack with a looping effort that beat goalkeeper Jort Borgmans. FC Eindhoven responded on the hour when Segert Baartmans headed Guus Beaumont’s cross into the far corner.

The scores remained level for only three minutes. Damon Mirani restored Heracles’ advantage with a header from Max Hauswirth’s corner, before Tristan van Gilst converted a 67th-minute penalty after being brought down at the end of another quick move. It was Van Gilst’s fifth goal of the season, and FC Eindhoven’s late pressure did not threaten the visitors’ lead.

There was also a significant moment for substitute Fodé Fofana, who returned to professional football following almost three years of injury problems. Heilmann told Heracles’ official website that Fofana’s comeback was the highlight of the match. The coach praised his team’s defending, intensity and collective resilience, although he was less satisfied with their play in possession. Heracles wore their all-gold third kit, marking 100 years since the club first became Dutch champions.
