Henk Veerman scores four as FC Volendam sweep Dordrecht aside

Henk Veerman struck four times as FC Volendam claimed an emphatic 6-1 victory over FC Dordrecht in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. The striker capitalised on a defensive mistake for the opener and added his second within ten minutes, putting Erwin van de Looi’s side firmly in control.
After Martin Vetkal replied for Dordrecht and Reuven Niemeijer scored for Volendam, Veerman completed his hat-trick in eye-catching fashion. He reached the ball ahead of goalkeeper Calvin Raatsie and diverted it into the net with his heel. Veerman then converted a Nick Doodeman cross for his fourth before Doodeman completed the scoring. Volendam defender Precious Ugwu also missed a second-half penalty.
Veerman was pleased with the standout goal but remained relaxed about his performance. Speaking to ESPN in comments carried by Voetbal International, he said: “I’m pretty satisfied with this backheel.” The 35-year-old added that the display was a welcome response after missed opportunities in the previous defeat by MVV.
The result gave Volendam their second win in four league matches following earlier losses to Jong PSV and MVV. Elsewhere, MVV beat Jong AZ 2-1 through goals from Olivier Dumont and Noa El Hamdaoui, becoming the first MVV side to win its opening four matches of a season. Vitesse won 4-1 at FC Den Bosch, while Roda JC against NAC Breda and RKC Waalwijk against Jong PSV both finished 2-2.
