Heilmann demands sharper Heracles display against FC Den Bosch

Heracles Almelo coach Vincent Heilmann wants his side to build on the best parts of their season-opening win when FC Den Bosch visit the Asito Stadion on Friday. Heracles began their Eerste Divisie campaign with a 4-3 victory at VVV-Venlo, although they surrendered a three-goal advantage during a chaotic contest.

Heilmann said the defensive problems behind the comeback had been reviewed and addressed in training on Monday and Tuesday. He specifically identified poor movement out of the centre in the build-up to VVV’s second and third goals, making clear that Heracles must improve in that area.

The coach nevertheless drew encouragement from his team’s attacking performance over the opening 75 minutes. According to figures cited by the club, Heracles created danger inside the VVV penalty area 23 times and registered 12 shots on target, compared with three for their opponents. Heilmann therefore believes there was plenty of positive work alongside the defensive lessons.

Luka Kulenovic is available again after serving a suspension in the opening fixture. Jeff Reine-Adélaïde, Walid Ould-Chikh, Mimeirhel Benita and Rhys Bozinovski will all miss the FC Den Bosch match because of various injuries. Looking ahead to Heracles’ first home league game, Heilmann told the club’s official website that he hoped for “a full house and a match with lots of energy,” with both the players and supporters contributing to an intimidating atmosphere.
