French media have responded enthusiastically to reports that Mika Godts is joining Paris Saint-Germain from Ajax. According to RMC Sport, PSG’s pursuit was part of a longer-term plan rather than a rushed decision, with the French club said to have monitored the Belgian winger for several seasons.

Godts is coming off a productive Eredivisie campaign in which he recorded 17 goals and 12 assists, according to the reports cited by VI. RMC Sport described the move as consistent with PSG’s strategy of recruiting young players with significant potential, while also suggesting that Godts could contribute to the first team this season.

L’Équipe also backed the 21-year-old to make an immediate impression. The newspaper highlighted his dribbling, improved end product and eye-catching goals for Ajax, including a long-range strike against FC Utrecht and a run through the NAC Breda defence. It compared the latter moment to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s famous Ajax goal against the same opposition.

Le Parisien similarly reported that Godts had been on PSG’s radar for several years and is expected to receive a role this season, despite the challenge of breaking into an established squad. Le Figaro presented him as a fast and efficient dribbler who could help cover attacking departures, while also identifying him as a possible replacement should Bradley Barcola leave for Liverpool. Those squad scenarios remain part of the French media’s reporting rather than confirmed developments.
