Feyenoord linked with free-agent goalkeeper Florian Kastenmeier

Feyenoord are reportedly pursuing free-agent goalkeeper Florian Kastenmeier as a potential new back-up. Voetbalzone, citing supporters’ website FR12, says the 29-year-old German could become second choice behind Tjark Ernst at De Kuip. No agreement has been confirmed.
Kastenmeier has been without a club since leaving Fortuna Düsseldorf at the beginning of July. The 1.90-metre goalkeeper spent seven years with the German side, making 228 competitive appearances during that period.
His record for Düsseldorf included 55 clean sheets, while he conceded 320 goals. Kastenmeier remained the club’s first-choice goalkeeper last season, but was unable to prevent their relegation to the third tier of German football.
The report also cites Feyenoord Transfermarkt as saying that the Rotterdam club have been working on Kastenmeier’s possible arrival for an extended period. Feyenoord are not presented as his only option, however, with Hertha BSC also interested in offering him a contract.
