FC Twente maintain Jerayno Schaken interest as Feyenoord talks stall

Feyenoord have yet to make progress in their attempt to secure Jerayno Schaken’s longer-term future, with negotiations between the Rotterdam club and the winger’s representatives proving difficult, according to De Telegraaf. The 17-year-old remains under contract until mid-2028.

FC Twente are said to retain a strong interest after previously submitting an offer of around €1 million. Schaken, the son of former Netherlands international Ruben Schaken, has also attracted attention from abroad. He strengthened his case last week by scoring twice for Feyenoord Under-21 in a friendly against Real Madrid Under-19.

Feyenoord signed Schaken on a free transfer from SC Heerenveen a year ago and promoted him from the Under-17 side to the Under-21s this summer. The attacker had expected an opportunity with the senior squad and, after Twente’s interest emerged, trained with Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s first team last week. Twente reportedly want to offer him a three-year agreement, the maximum term permitted for a player who is not yet 18.

Twente’s pursuit is described as separate from their move for Valerenga winger Filip Thorvaldsen. The 20-year-old Norwegian, who can play on either flank, reportedly underwent a medical in Enschede on Monday ahead of a transfer worth approximately €5 million. Thorvaldsen has recorded 10 goals and five assists in 67 appearances for Valerenga.
