Ekkelenkamp and Koopmeiners on target in Serie A victories

Jurgen Ekkelenkamp scored what proved to be the decisive goal as Udinese earned their first Serie A victory of the season, beating Monza 3-2 away from home. The Dutch midfielder found the net in first-half stoppage time to give the visitors a 3-1 advantage at the interval.

Jakub Piotrowski had put Udinese ahead before Andrea Colpani equalised for Monza. Hassane Kamara restored the visitors’ lead, with Ekkelenkamp adding their third shortly before half-time. Gustavo Varela reduced the deficit after the break, but Udinese held on to move to four points from two matches. AC Milan lead the early standings with six points.

Teun Koopmeiners also made an immediate impact for Juventus in their 2-0 victory over Parma. He entered in the 86th minute with his side leading through Nicolás González and scored the second goal only two minutes later. The result gave Juventus their second win of the campaign.

Elsewhere in Serie A, Kian Fitz-Jim and Torino suffered their second league defeat, losing 2-1 at Sassuolo. In Spain, Atlético Madrid won 3-1 away to Sevilla through two goals from Álex Baena and another from Ademola Lookman. Miguel Sierra replied for the hosts in the second half, while Julián Álvarez was absent from Atlético’s squad for personal reasons.
