Dutch UEFA coefficient position squeezed as Turkey closes gap
Ajax and FC Twente secured Conference League places, but Turkey made the biggest coefficient gain after Fenerbahçe reached the Champions League.
The Netherlands remains eighth in UEFA’s coefficient ranking, but Turkey has sharply reduced the gap despite European victories for Ajax and FC Twente. The Dutch total stands at 52.395 points after gaining 0.333 this week, while ninth-placed Turkey collected 1.400 to move to 49.675.
Fenerbahçe’s qualification for the Champions League was a major factor in Turkey’s advance. NEC, by contrast, missed out on that competition and dropped into the Europa League. There was better news in the Conference League, where Ajax and Twente both won and secured places in the league phase.
Belgium also slightly increased its advantage over the Netherlands, adding 0.400 points to reach 59.050 in seventh. Anderlecht qualified for the Europa League, while STVV fell into the Conference League following a 4-2 defeat by Omonia Nicosia. Gent will also compete in that tournament.
All six Dutch representatives remain involved in European league phases and are scheduled to play 44 matches between them. PSV and Feyenoord had direct Champions League places, with AZ entering the Europa League. Belgium has retained all five of its representatives, while Turkey has four of the five clubs with which it began the European season.
