Dutch midfielder Roy Snip extends Bayern Munich contract until 2028

Dutch midfielder Roy Snip has extended his contract with Bayern Munich until the summer of 2028, according to De Telegraaf. The 18-year-old is developing his reputation at the German club after FC Utrecht and FC Groningen previously missed out on signing him.

Snip’s first name was inspired by former Netherlands striker Roy Makaay, who had two spells at Bayern: one as a player and another as a coach. The Dutch youngster has now made his own long-term commitment to the Munich club, with his new deal confirmed during the past week.

The midfielder has also attracted attention because of his resemblance to Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal. Snip told De Telegraaf that the likeness was particularly noticeable during a visit to the Catalan city. “In Barcelona, I had to keep stopping for a photo,” he said.

While that resemblance has brought him attention away from the pitch, the new contract underlines Bayern’s faith in his football development. His extension keeps him tied to the club for several more seasons and closes off, for now, any immediate opportunity for Utrecht or Groningen to bring the Dutch teenager back to the Netherlands.
