Drommel set for Twente return as Van den Brom rests five against DAC

FC Twente will travel without five players for the return against DAC after building a commanding 6-0 lead in the first leg at De Grolsch Veste. Van den Brom has left Stav Lemkin, Aske Adelgaard, Sondre Ørjasaeter, Lars Unnerstall and Wout Weghorst out of the travelling group.

Lemkin and Adelgaard are unavailable because of injuries, while Ørjasaeter will miss the game for personal reasons. Unnerstall and Weghorst will instead focus on Sunday’s assignment. Van den Brom said the scale of Twente’s first-leg advantage allowed him to make those decisions.

Joël Drommel will start in goal, making his first appearance for Twente since 2021. The goalkeeper recently returned to the club from PSV, and Van den Brom described the opportunity to play him as a positive consequence of the strong position established in the opening match.

Despite that six-goal cushion, Twente also want to respond to their 1-0 Eredivisie defeat away to SC Heerenveen last weekend. Van den Brom felt his side played below its level in that loss after showing greater tempo, quicker ball circulation and more attacking quality against DAC. Captain Robin Pröpper also warned that the Slovakian side could present a different challenge at home, insisting Twente must remain focused on producing a strong performance of their own.
