De Graafschap sign Juventus winger Gabriele Finocchiaro on loan

De Graafschap have strengthened their attack by signing Gabriele Finocchiaro on loan from Juventus. The agreement for the 20-year-old Italian also gives the Dutch club an option to make the move permanent, although no further details about the deal were disclosed.

Born in Acireale, Finocchiaro developed in Juventus’ youth system and spent recent seasons within the Italian club’s talent programme. De Graafschap describe him as an attacker who is most effective from the left side, with his pace and dribbling expected to add a different dimension to the forward line.

Technical manager Berry Powel highlighted Finocchiaro’s ability in one-on-one situations, as well as his speed, forward running and willingness to play positively. Powel said De Graafschap intend to give the youngster room to continue his development while also expecting him to contribute to the team.

Finocchiaro said he chose De Graafschap because he wanted an experience different from what he had previously known. In comments published by the club, he called it “the perfect place” to develop both on and off the pitch. He also said he was looking forward to getting to know the club, its supporters and the Achterhoek region. Finocchiaro will join De Graafschap’s first-team squad immediately.
