De Graafschap have completed the signing of Jannes Wieckhoff following his departure from Heracles Almelo. The 26-year-old German right-back arrives on a free transfer and has agreed a two-season contract in Doetinchem.

Technical manager Berry Powel described Wieckhoff as a modern, dynamic full-back whose intensity suits De Graafschap’s intended style of play. The club believes his pace, stamina and ability in possession will allow him to contribute at both ends of the pitch, while his time with Heracles provides him with Eredivisie experience.

Wieckhoff also highlighted his attacking ambitions after completing the move. “I am a dynamic right-back,” he told De Graafschap’s official website, adding that he hopes to make an impact with goals and assists. He has previously played at De Vijverberg as an opponent and said that experience made the prospect of representing the club particularly appealing.

The defender developed in the academies of FC St. Pauli and Hamburger SV before entering professional football. He moved to Heracles in 2023 and has also represented Germany at several youth levels. Wieckhoff becomes De Graafschap’s seventh addition of the summer, following Bjorn van Zijl, Mark Pabai, Donny Warmerdam, Clint Leemans, Julian Kania and Gijs Bolk.
