Crysencio Summerville suffered his first defeat as an Al-Hilal player on Monday evening as Neom SC secured a surprise 2-0 victory away from home. The Netherlands international had won each of his opening five matches with the Saudi club before the setback.

Neom went in front through an unfortunate own goal by Kalidou Koulibaly. Amadou Koné then doubled the visitors’ advantage shortly before half-time, leaving Al-Hilal with a significant deficit to overturn after the interval.

The hosts had Summerville, Gabriel Martinelli and Ollie Watkins in their side but were unable to score in the second half. Neom protected their two-goal cushion to complete the upset and bring Al-Hilal’s perfect run with Summerville to an end.

The result prompted jubilant scenes in the visiting dressing room. Neom coach Christophe Galtier joined his players in celebrating a win for the side that finished eighth last season.
