Couhaib Driouech’s reported move from PSV to Rangers collapses

Couhaib Driouech’s proposed transfer from PSV to Rangers has fallen through, according to reports in the Netherlands. Club reporter Rik Elfrink, cited by FCUpdate and Voetbalzone, says the parties could not finalise the move after negotiations in Glasgow.

The 24-year-old winger had travelled to Scotland to complete the transfer but is now expected to return to Eindhoven. PSV and Rangers had reportedly reached an agreement in principle earlier in the week, with the prospective fee placed between €8 million and €8.5 million. The precise reason for the deal’s collapse has not been disclosed.

Driouech joined PSV from Excelsior in the summer of 2024 for approximately €3.5 million. He has not established himself as a regular starter under Peter Bosz during his two seasons in Eindhoven and had appeared to be heading for the exit before the Rangers move broke down.

It is the fourth reported outgoing PSV transfer to collapse within five months. Earlier proposed moves involving Ricardo Pepi, Armando Obispo and Adamo Nagalo also failed to reach completion. Elfrink described four deals falling through after apparently being close as “very, very exceptional”. PSV must now proceed without the anticipated income from Driouech’s sale, while the winger remains at the club for the time being.
