Zian Flemming rescued a point for Burnley with two late goals in a 2-2 draw against West Ham on the opening weekend of the Championship season. The 28-year-old converted a penalty before scoring again in added time to prevent defeat. Joël Veltman appeared as a substitute for West Ham.
The performance came as Flemming attracts interest from several Premier League clubs, according to VI. Burnley manager Hayen acknowledged that another decisive display was unlikely to reduce that attention, joking after the match that it did not help when the forward scored twice.
Hayen stressed that Flemming’s value to Burnley extends beyond his finishing. He believes the attacker fits the team’s style and suggested that remaining at the club for at least the coming months could allow him to become even more influential. The manager also left open the possibility that the situation might be reassessed during the winter transfer window.
Flemming scored 11 Premier League goals last season, when Burnley finished 19th. He joined the club from Millwall in July 2025 and is under contract until the middle of 2029, giving Burnley a strong negotiating position if the reported interest develops into firm offers.
